On behalf of the Veterinary Council of I.R of Iran, it is of my pleasure to inform you that the "1st International Congress on Aquatic Animal Health Management and Diseases, 1st ICAHMD" will be held in January 27-28, 2009 in Tehran, Iran.
Nowadays aquatic animal health management is an essential tool to keep a sustainable aquaculture development in the world. Also, providing a health/hygiene management in fishery productions is a key criterion for achieving in a food security. Unfortunately, losses due to the infectious and non-infectious diseases plus poor health management are high in aquaculture and fishery activities. At the present there are many programs and research works looking for prevention and eradication of biotic and abiotic diseases of aquatic animals in the fishery and aquacultural regions including Iran. Taking it into consideration, this congress intends to make an international scientific venues for having the scientist, researchers and aquaculturists to exchange their experiences and achievements in aquatic animal health activities leading to emerging effective and fundamental approaches for promoting the fishery and aquaculture industries at the national and international levels.
The scientific programs of the congress include infectious and non-infectious diseases of aquatic animals, protection/vaccination, quarantine/eradication, prevention, treatment and water quality criteria. The congress will be held in oral and poster sessions plus some workshops, round table discussions and keynote lecturers. I am sure your stay in Tehran, the capital of Iran will create a great chance for you to get more familiar with so valuable Iranian customs and culture particularly Iranian hospitality. Besides the scientific programs, we intend to organize some cultural and tour programs for visiting the fantastic historical places in Tehran and other cities such as Isfehan and Shiraz. I sincerely hope that your active participation will assist scientific aspects and enhancing the aquatic animal health management. Looking forward to see you in Tehran in January, 2009.
